South Africa’s Sustainable Mobility Transition Has Potential for Dutch Companies

South Africa has over the last seven years seen a significant increase in the uptake of sustainable green mobility. With New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales increasing by 83 % between 2023 and 2024.

Public sector policy reforms are showing positive returns with the Green Mobility Master Plan (2018- 2023) and the Climate Change Act 2023 having concrete and compressive policy instruments to reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector.

The Dutch Missions in South Africa (SA Missions) are helping South Africa in the country’s green mobility transition. The SA Missions' enhanced engagement with the public sector and strong public diplomacy initiatives are positioning The Netherlands as a strategic partner in South Africa’s green mobility transition.
